Program Mission/Overview

The purpose of the Associate Degree Nursing Program is to offer diverse learning experiences that prepare individuals for entry into the nursing profession.  

Program Objectives

Upon completion of the ADN program, the graduate will:

  • As provider of care, utilize the nursing process to provide care to individuals, groups of individuals, and families in a dynamic health care environment.
  • As manager of care, participate within the interdisciplinary team to assure quality patient outcomes.
  • As a member of the discipline of nursing, maintain professional accountability and practice within the legal/ethical standards of nursing care.

Job Placement

Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination or (NCLEX-RN) which is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. The employment opportunities for graduates of the Associate Degree Program are diverse. Examples of employment setting: medical clinics, physician offices, long term care facilities, occupational health settings and community agencies.

Facilities

The Piedmont Triad region offers numerous clinical sites where students may have clinical placements. Typically clinical experiences are focused in hospitals, medical clinics, home and community health facilities and long term care agencies.

Program Costs

There are costs related to the nursing program such as uniforms, liability insurance, lab fees and standardized tests.
