Director of Nursing
On behalf of the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing faculty, I extend to you an invitation to consider a career in nursing, one of the most exciting and challenging professions in health care. The Department of Nursing at Forsyth Technical Community College recognizes that preparation to become a nurse requires a collaborative relationship between faculty and students. We stand ready to support and guide students as active participants in the educational process.
The Department of Nursing offers an Associate Degree Nursing program of study, which is 5 semesters in length and graduates of the program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which is required to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). The Department also offers a Practical Nursing program of study, which is 3 semesters in length. Graduates of the Practical Nursing program are
eligible to apply to take the National Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), which is required to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Graduates of both programs are employed in a variety of health care settings.
Students at Forsyth Technical Community College have the opportunity for clinical experiences at two major medical centers located in Winston-Salem and other health care agencies in the region. As a result of the excellent health care facilities available for clinical practice, students enrolled in the nursing programs have the opportunity to experience the most current and "best practices" in nursing and health care.
If you would like additional information about our nursing programs, please call the Admissions office at (336) 734-7253. We look forward to working with you.
