Where do I go to purchase parking decals?

Where do I go if I have questions about my tuition refund?

The Cashier’s Office handles questions about tuition refunds.   The Cashier’s Office is on Main Campus in the Allman Center on the second floor.  The telephone number is 336.734.7210.

Refund Guidelines

Tuition and fee refunds for program classes are subject to the following requirements:

  • A 100 percent refund may be given if students officially withdraw prior to the first day of classes of the semester as noted in the academic calendar. If Forsyth Tech cancels a course, the portion of tuition they paid for the canceled course will be refunded in full.
  • A 75 percent refund may be given if students officially withdraw from the class(es) prior to, or on, the official 10 percent point of the semester.
  • Student activity fees will be refunded only when classes are canceled and students are not registered in any other class.

* Students passing proficiency exams for courses they have registered and paid for are not eligible for tuition refunds.

* Tuition refunds are not transferable to other individuals.

* Late tuition refund requests will not be considered.

* Tuition cannot be held from one semester to a future semester.

* Malpractice insurance and parking decals are non-refundable unless the class(es) are canceled by the school.

Please note if you pay via online through Nelnet your refund may be processed at a later date.  Wire payments are received periodically and refunds will be processed as time allows. 

What is a Pell grant?

The Pell grant is a federally funded, need-based grant for undergraduate students.  You can view eligibility requirements and apply online for the Pell Grant on our Financial Aid webpage.

How many hours do I have to take to be considered a full time student?

The Forsyth Tech Financial Aid office considers enrollment status as follows:

Less than half-time 1 to 5 hours
½ Time 6 to 8 hours
¾ time 9 to 11 hours
Full-time 12+ hours

I have dropped a class; how will that effect my financial aid?

Federal regulations require that students receiving Title IV financial assistance must maintain satisfactory academic progress.  The guidelines can be found at this link:  termination-of-funds.

How do I apply for Financial Aid, and how long does it take?

www.fafsa.ed.gov  is the website,  usually takes 5-6 weeks after application is completed, if you have questions, please go to the Financial Aid Office located on the second floor of the Allman Center, Room 261

How do I make changes to my FAFSA?

You can make changes to your FAFSA by logging on the FAFSA website.  Select “Corrections Application” to make changes to your FAFSA application.

Do I have to purchase my books at the College’s bookstore?

Students are not required to purchase books and supplies in the Forsyth Tech bookstore.  This service is provided by the College as a convenience.

The College allows students with financial aid awards to charge books and supplies to their aid.  Students are responsible for any costs not covered by financial aid.  The College Bookstore limits the amount of electronics a student is allowed to purchase using their financial aid award.

Students are allowed to purchase books from off-campus locations with aid funds under the following conditions:

  • Students may purchase books and supplies from local vendors that charge purchases against the student’s federal aid award using the student’s College issued Higher One card.
  • The student is not required to provide written documentation to the Student Financial Services department for local vendors using the student’s College issued Higher One Card. Written documentation is only required when the vendor will be billing the College.
  • Students must notify the Student Financial Services department in writing if they wish to use their financial aid award at an off-campus location that does not accept the College issued Higher One card.  Students must also provide the Student Financial Services department with a written statement (on letterhead) from the off-campus vendor that indicates that the vendor will (a) allow you to make a charge against your account, and (b) bill the College within the seven-day period after the first day of the semester.
