Nursing Assistant I

Course description

This program will prepare students to assist in provision of skills necessary to work in a hospital, nursing home and other medical settings as well as meet the criteria for Nursing programs at Forsyth Tech. The Nursing Assistant I graduate is prepared to provide personal care and perform basic skills for the elderly and other adults. Emphasis is placed on following the Department of Facility Services program for the C.N.A. I.

Sessions run 8 - 18 weeks. 160 hours total (offered both day and evening)

Possible salary range

Nursing Assistant $7.65 -- $9.66/hour

Competencies

Upon successful completion of the program, students will have demonstrated skill in the areas of:

• Reading at 10th grade level
• Math at 8th grade level
• Basic Nurse Assistant skills
• Preparation for the Department Facility Services (DFS) Testing

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Health Education math and reading placement tests
  • Attendance at orientation
  • Hight school diploma/GED/official transcript
  • CPR (AHA) Health Care Provider certification before clinical
  • Picture ID and Social Security card with matching names
