Adult Basic Education

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a program of instruction designed for adults who lack skills in reading, writing, speaking, problem-solving or computation at a level necessary to function in society, on a job or in the family.

Adult Basic Entrance Requirements

  • Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll in any class
  • Students must attend orientation

Orientation Days, Times and Location

West Campus Room 20

  • Four days of orientation required.
  • Monday, through Thursday (4 days) at :
  • 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (3 hours each day)
  • 6 p.m.-9 p.m. (3 hours each day)
  • No orientation on the following weeks:
  • January 19, 2015
  • March 30, 2015
  • May 25, 2015
  • August 10, 2015
  • September 7, 2015
  • October 12, 2015
  • November 9, 2015
  • November 23, 2015
  • Last Orientation session begins December 7, 2015

Orientation Requirements

  • Attend same time session each day
  • Late arrivals will not be admitted

Documents that must be brought to orientation:

  • Social Security or Tax ID card (signed) (copies not accepted)
  • Government or state issued photo ID (no school or work ID’s accepted)

Minors (Ages 16 & 17) must bring:

  • Social Security or Tax ID card (signed) (copies not accepted)
  • Government or state issued photo ID (no school or work ID’s accepted)
  • Minor Release Form – AHS/HSE  (Requires notarized signature of parent or guardian.  This minor release form is for Adult High School/HSE students ONLY.)
