CPR Courses (American Heart Association)

Courses:

CPR: Healthcare Instructor Course / Cost: $70.00 / 8 Hours

The Healthcare Provider CPR Instructor’s Course is designed to certify instructors through the American Heart Association. This course teaches general instruction skills as well as specific CPR teaching skills. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded a Healthcare Provider CPR Instructor’s certificate. With this certification Healthcare Provider CPR Instructors can instruct Heartsaver CPR, First Aid and Healthcare Provider CPR.

Prerequisite: Current certification in Healthcare Provider CPR, certificate of completion of the online AHA Core Instructor Course, and a letter from CPR instructor stating the candidate has met instructor potential level.  (Not on the schedule at this time, call with interest)

Note:  This course has a required book that must be read prior to class.

ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) Provider Course/ Cost: $75.00 / 16 Hours

This two day ACLS course is developed by the American Heart Association and geared to enhance skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. This ACLS course is based on simulated clinical scenarios that reinforces proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac arrest; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes; recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; ACLS algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics. Upon completion of the course the student will receive an American Heart Certification card good for two years.

ACLS Renewal Course/ Cost: $75.00 / 8 Hours

ACLS Provider courses must be renewed every two years. This renewal class gives ACLS providers updated information and current AHA standards of performance. The provider completing this course is issued an AHA certification card good for two years.

Prerequisite:  Must have a current ACLS Provider card

PALS-Pediatric Advance Life Support / Cost: $70.00 / 8 Hours

The American Heart Association Healthcare Provider PALS course is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course using a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. PALS is a continuing education course for EMS providers of all levels and other health care providers. Upon successful completion of the PALS Course, students will receive an AHA PALS Provider course completion card which is valid for two years.

Prerequisite: Certificate of completion of the online AHA Core Instructor Course.

PALS Renewal Course / Cost: $75.00 / 8 Hours

PALS Provider courses must be renewed every two years. This renewal class gives PALS/BLS-HCP providers updated information and current AHA standards of performance. The provider completing this course will be issued an AHA certification card good for two years.

Prerequisite:  Must have a current PALS Provider card

CPR: Healthcare Provider-Initial / Cost: $40.00 / 5 Hours

This American Heart Association Healthcare Provider course teaches students to recognize the signs and symptoms of heart attacks and strokes and how to perform CPR for adults, infants and children and use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages.  The BLS Healthcare Provider course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals or medical students. Upon completion of the course the student will receive an American Heart Certification card good for two years.

CPR Healthcare Provider-Recertification / Cost: $30.00 / 2.5 Hours

This course reviews Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, patient assessment, in order for students to maintain certification in Healthcare Provider CPR.

Note: This Course requires a textbook. Student must provide current HCP CPR Certification card at beginning of course.

CPR: Heartsaver Provider Initial / Cost: $30.00 / 2.5 Hours

This course follows the current American Heart Association guidelines. It is designed to teach participants that are not healthcare providers the basic steps of CPR, use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. Students will receive instruction to recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory and cardiac arrest in adults, children and infant victims. No written exam required for this course. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded Heartsaver CPR certification that is good for 2 years

Who should take the Heartsaver class:
Those with limited or no medical training.  To include; daycare workers, summer camp counselors, coaches, fitness instructors, social workers, nannies, parents, grandparents, babysitters, construction workers and general public..

Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver CPR eLearning Courses Skills Practice and Skills Testing / Cost: $25.00 / 2.50 hours

BLS CPR Online Part 1 presents cognitive information through a series of case-based scenarios, videos and interactive exercises. Upon successful completion of Part 1, including the online written test, a Part 1 Certificate of Completion is available for students to print. This certificate must then be presented for Parts 2 and 3, the hands-on skills practice and testing session with an AHA BLS Instructor. Students will receive an AHA CPR Providers Course Completion card, upon successful completion of all three parts.

Prerequisite: Completion of the online Part 1 portion prior to scheduling a skills practice and testing session.  (Not on the schedule at the time, call with interest)

Infant/Child Adult CPR/First Aid / Cost: $50.00 / 6.5 Hours

This course is the basic CPR course designed by the American Heart Association. It includes instruction in Heartsaver CPR for infants, children and adults as well as instruction for First Aid techniques in obstructed airway, life-threatening emergencies, injuries and medical emergencies. The course is designed for the lay public or the workplace. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid certification.
