Course Description
Designed to update individuals who have been listed within the previous three years on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry but let their certification lapse. This course is also a review for Nursing Assistants registered in another state who are seeking certification as a Nursing Assistant in North Carolina. This course provides individuals with a review of the knowledge, skills and abilities that must be demonstrated on the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Examination necessary for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.
48 hours (no clinical)
Requirements
In the past 3 years, candidates must have met ONE of the following criteria:
- NC Nursing Assistant I listing registry (expired certification) OR
- Nursing Assistant registry from another state OR
- Successfully completed state approved NAI course in past year
(NOTE: Students who made 3 attempts to pass the skills and written examination within 2 years of completion of the NAI training program are to retake a state approved training program prior to retaking the state exam. This is a NC Requirement.) OR - RN/LPN in past 5 years
- Military Hospital Patient Care Corpsman (Coordinator’s discretion)
Students must also meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of Math and Reading placement tests (or approved equivalent. Contact the Health Education Department for verification of equivalent scores/classes. 336.734.7733)
- High School Diploma/GED/High School Transcript OR College Diploma/College Transcript (showing graduation date)
- Picture ID and Social Security Card (with matching names)
- No absences or tardies allowed
