Banquet Setup/Server Certification

Taught in a “real-world” setting, this course allows hands-on instruction to develop skills needed to work in banquet set-up and service.  Participants will receive instruction on professionalism, food safety, alcohol awareness, meeting room set-up, banquet table set-up, event operations and design, customer service, and job readiness.

PREREQUISITE:  Must be able to comprehend and speak English.

Occupation Description

Banquet Setup/Servers facilitate food service.  They serve items such as meals, water, condiments and beverages to patrons.  They are typically expected to clean tables, remove dirty dishes, replace soiled table linens, set tables and ensure the staging areas are properly stocked.  Most employers offer flexible work schedules and typically include evening and weekend hours.  If interested in a career in food service, working in this field is a good first step.

Entry-Level Salary

$15,000 - $23,600 per year or $7.45 - $11.37 per hour

Learning Objectives

Students will learn how to set the scene for customers to have a pleasant dining experience.  Students will gain a basic understanding of all aspects of banquet setup and service. Students will learn to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Additionally, students will earn a Career Readiness Certificate.

Recommended Courses and Skills

Must be able to read and speak English proficiently; follow instructions; and to lift heavy serving trays.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time
