Institute for Human Resource Management Education
An organization's Human Resources (HR) Department is a critical
component of its success. Forsyth Tech's Institute for Human Resource
Management Education offers courses and an HR certificate that will
equip you with the requisite skills, tools and knowledge to effectively
deal with human resource issues arising in your organization.
Participants enrolled in these courses do not earn traditional college
credit. Instead, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded for
successful completion of each course.
The Institute offers the
following options for HR management training:
Human Resource Management Certificate
The Human Resource Management Certificate program provides a
comprehensive, practical foundation for individuals interested in
becoming HR generalists. Individuals currently employed in HR can
broaden their understanding of their profession, gain skills required
for advancement and acquire an educational credential in HR. Courses
cover today's most vital and timely topics, including employment law,
selecting qualified employees, compensation, orientation and training
and the employee performance process.
Graduates of the Human
Resource Management program receive Forsyth Tech's certificate in Human
Resource Management, a noncredit educational credential indicating
successful completion of a comprehensive course of study in human
resources. To successfully complete the program and earn the
certificate, participants must satisfactorily complete seven core
courses and three electives over a two-year period. Non-certificate
students may enroll in individual courses.

SHRM Exam Prep
If you are an experienced HR professional interested in earning the
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human
Resources (SPHR) designation, this intensive 14 week certification
preparation program will provide a proven method for preparing for the
examinations. This course is offered in partnership with the Society for
Human Resource Management (SHRM). The curriculum, designed by subject
matter experts, covers the 2008 HRCI Body of Knowledge and includes
application exercises that develop specific competencies and
decision-making skills.

Continuing Education Credit for PHRs and SPHRs
HR professionals know that their field constantly evolves. In order
to be a strategic partner in your organization's success, you must stay
abreast of changing laws, best practices and innovative labor
strategies. Certified HR professionals are required to recertify their
designation every three years. As a Human Resource Certification
Institute (HRCI) approved provider, many of our courses offered through
the Institute for HR Management qualify for recertification credit. If
