Program of Study
Students will complete courses from a variety of disciplines. Emphasis in core courses is placed on the development of skill sets that are required to effectively interact with human service professionals and clients. A one or two-semester internship is required for degree-seeking students that provides working experience at a human services related location.
Students will need to need to meet screening requirements to work at internship sites. These requirements are determined by the agency and may include passing a criminal background check and a drug screening. Students should contact the Human Services Program Coordinator for additional information and career coaching regarding the screening requirements.
Human Services is one of the fastest growing professions heading into the next century. Graduates should qualify for entry level positions in mental health, family services, social services, rehabilitation, corrections, residential and group home facilities, youth programs, Veterans affairs, substance abuse treatment agencies, agencies serving older adults, community support programs and government programs.
