AHA Icon Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider CPR- Initial / Cost: $45.00 / 4 to 5 Hours

Are you a healthcare provider who needs Basic Life Support CPR certification and have never taken a class before?  Receive your certification in one day at Forsyth Tech!  The BLS HCP CPR course teaches you to recognize the signs and symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest and strokes and how to perform CPR for adults, infants and children and use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. The BLS Healthcare Provider course is designed to provide you, as a healthcare professional, with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals or medical students. Upon completion you will receive an American Heart Association Certification card (NO WAITING) good for two years.

Required Book:  AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider Manual, 2015 edition.  Read prior to attending class. 

 

AHA Icon AHA CPR BLS-EP / Cost $35.00 /  3 Hours

AHA CPR BLS-EP is a fast paced course for experienced healthcare providers.  This course is designed those who have recently taken a CPR class and experienced healthcare professionals who are proficient in performing BLS skills and who may regularly lead or participate in emergency assessment and treatment of pre-arrest, arrest, or post-arrest patients. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in treatment of cardiac arrest patients.  Students who attend this course usually have continually maintained an AHA BLS certification.

On the day of the course, upon completion you will receive an American Heart Association Certification card which is valid for two years, no waiting!

Suggested prerequisite –  Current AHA BLS certification that has not expired for more than 60 days or work in an environment with CPR exposure.

AHA Icon eLearning Skills Practice and Testing / Cost $30.00 / Approx. 2 hours

Are you seeking an alternative to classroom training or wishing to renew an existing AHA certification? The eLearning Online course offers a flexible training option. The online cognitive portion, provided by AHA, allows students to complete learning at their own pace and convenience. Students should schedule a Skills Practice and Testing session prior to taking the on-line cognitive portion.  Once students complete the on-line cognitive portion they should schedule a hands-on skills practice and testing session to complete their certification.  During this session students have the opportunity for one-on-one practice before a skills test with a certified AHA Instructor.  Upon successful completion of all three parts students will be proficient in the required skills and will receive a certification card, on the spot, in the associated discipline, no waiting!

AHA Icon Heartsaver CPR and First Aid / Cost $50.00 / Approx. 7.5 Hours

This American Heart Association credentialed course covers first aid basics; medical, injury, and environmental emergencies; CPR AED; and choking relief for adults, children and infants.   You will learn the basic steps of CPR, use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. You will receive instruction to recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory and cardiac arrest in adults, children and infant victims. Instruction will be provided to manage life-threatening environmental emergencies, injuries and medical emergencies such as; seizures, allergies, diabetes, heat stroke and snake bites. On the day of the course, upon successful completion, you will receive your AHA Heartsaver CPR/First Aid card which is valid for two years. (County EMS, Fire Dept, Sworn Law Enforcement and Public School Employee receive this training FREE!  Call for details!)

 

AHA Icon Heartsaver Provider Initial CPR / Cost $30.00 / Approx. 3 Hours

If you are not a healthcare provider, this is the course for you! This course follows the current American Heart Association 2015 guidelines and is designed to teach you the basic steps of CPR, use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. You will receive instruction to recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory and cardiac arrest in adults, children and infant victims. No written exam is required for this course.  On the day of the course, upon successful completion, you will be awarded the American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR certification which is valid for two years.

AHA Icon ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support / Cost $84.00 / 16 Hours

Are you an advanced medical professional looking for AHA ACLS training? Come to Forsyth Tech and receive the AHA ACLS and BLS certification all in one class.  This advanced, instructor-led classroom course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Instruction is provided for airway management and related pharmacology. You will be able to recognize the patient’s condition and start the appropriate early course of treatment.  You will have the knowledge to managed cardiac conditions is a professional manner and assume a leadership role.  Upon successful completion, you will receive the AHA ACLS and BLS certification cards which are valid for two years, no waiting!

AHA Icon PALS – Pediatric Advance Life Support / Cost $84.00 / 16 Hours

Are you a healthcare provider interested in preparing to respond to emergencies for infants and children? The American Heart Association PALS certification is desired in most medical settings and surgical units for infants and children.  Come to Forsyth Tech and receive the AHA PALS and BLS certification all in one class. The American Heart Association PALS course is an instructor-led course using a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. Frequently Asked Questions

What if my BLS certification card has expired?  AHA no longer offers a renewal/recertification BLS class.  Students can take any scheduled BLS class.  The difference is the students must be prepared for the AHA CPR BLS-EP.  This class is designed for experienced providers and is a fast paced class.

Can I take the BLS CPR course for experienced providers if I have never taken a BLS CPR class before?  Yes, this this is a fast paced course and the student must have read the book and come prepared to class.  This is a tested certification class and moves very quickly.

Can I take the BLS CPR class even though I am proficient in CPR?  Yes, students can take any class on the schedule.  We try to find the most appropriate class to meet the needs of the student.

What kind of CPR certification do I need?  If you work in the medical field or you are a medical student, most likely you need one of the BLS Provider certification.  If you are not sure and your place of employment or school is requiring this certification they would be most suited to advise the type of certification required.

Who would take a Heartsaver CPR class?  The average citizen, baby sitters, life guards and those with no medical experience are just a few examples.

Is there still a PALS and ACLS renewal?  Yes- renewal, recertification or recert is all the same thing.
