Drawing: Basic Techniques

Before you begin your masterpiece in acrylic, oil, or watercolor, spend four Tuesday’s with Ginnie Conaway to learn the fundamentals of drawing.
You will learn to draw what you see, not what you think you see.
Learn to make your shapes appear three dimensional with the use of shading and values.
The class will begin in pencil and you can move to pen work if you wish.

Improve your basic drawing skills by learning to use shading and texture to make a flower or figure appear three-dimensional. Learn how to use values and perspective to create a feeling of distance in a landscape or cityscape. Understand what makes a good composition and how to edit your reference photos to get it. You can choose to draw still-life, animals, flowers, figures, or landscapes. We’ll discuss how to take photo references and where to find some of the best on the internet.

Painting: Choose Your Medium

This class is designed for the person that has so much going on in the day they have no time for themselves!  Treat yourself to an introduction into various art mediums like watercolor or acrylic. Before you know it you will be more relaxed and enjoying some “me” time.

This class will explore the possibilities of combining different mediums  (watercolor, acrylic, pen & ink), in various ways.

It is also for students that want to work in just ONE art form (watercolor, acrylic, penicl, pen and ink).

All levels of students from beginners to advanced will meet to explore the proper use of this exciting medium; especially color mixing, application and brush techniques. We will work from photos and nature while studying the styles of the master oil painters.

Painting: Water Media New class!

This class allows student to experiment with any water media, including watercolors, acrylics, gouache, and watercolor pencils. Beginners, will receive an introduction into watercolor and acrylics and the difference between them the first day of class. We keep supplies at a minimum, teaching you how to mix paints to create hues rather than buy a tube of another color. Demonstrations will be done in blending colors, what makes a good paint brush and can you use them for all media, and much more!
