The field of interior design provides a variety of job opportunities in the field of both residential and non-residential interior design. The focus of the studies is technical knowledge, professional practices, and aesthetic principles. Interior designers qualify for a variety of jobs including residential and commercial interior design, set design, showroom design, and sales positions for furniture, textiles and accessories, and all businesses dealing with interiors.
Facility manager, space planner, exhibit designer, stage design, show room designer, kitchen and bathroom designer, design coordinator, furniture manager, estate manager, interior landscaper, product representative, home stager, and expediter.
Curriculum content includes residential and non-residential interior design, architectural drafting, computer-aided design, and universal design. Also included are basic design, history of interiors and furnishings, products, business practices, graphic presentations, general education courses as well as cooperative education.
An interest in design, good decision-making skills, good oral and written communication skills, and computer skills. The willingness to adapt to changing technology, the ability to manage detailed projects and the ability to work in a team environment.
