NC Career and College Promise

Still in high school but ready for college courses? At Forsyth Tech, you can earn college credits that will get you a head start on your college career.

Career & College Promise is a program that offers North Carolina high school students a clear, focused and affordable way to begin their two- or four-year college work by earning college credits tuition free. The program is open to all high school students, who maintain a “B” average and meet other eligibility requirements.

Career & College Promise provides three paths to help advance eligible students’ post-high school success. Students must choose and commit to one of these paths, and changing of pathways is not generally permitted.

  • The College Transfer Path – Earn tuition-free course credits toward a four-year degree by taking courses through Forsyth Tech.  Initiative for qualified high school students, age 15 and above and in the 11th or 12th grade.  Credits transfer seamlessly to all University of North Carolina institutions and many of North Carolina’s Independent Colleges and Universities.  There are currently 4 College Transfer pathways available at Forsyth Tech.
  • The Technical Career Path – Earn tuition-free course credits at Forsyth Tech toward an entry-level job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career.  Initiative for qualified high school students, age 15 and above and in the 11th or 12th grade.  There are currently 35 Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways available at Forsyth Tech.
  • TheCooperative Innovative High School Path (limited availability) – Begin earning tuition-free college credits as a high-school freshman by attending a Cooperative Innovative High School such as Early College of Forsyth and Stokes Early College High School. These schools offer students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree at the same time. In addition, at Forsyth Middle College, a Cooperative Innovative High School for students in the 11th and 12th grade and part of Career and College Promise, offers its students the opportunity to earn some transferable college credits and obtain their High School Degree.

Articulated courses are selected high school courses that will get you advanced standing credit at Forsyth Tech.
