Career Description

The design of the curriculum is to provide studies for persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.

Careers Available

Graduates should qualify for a variety of jobs in the electrical/electronics field as an on-the-job trainee or apprentice assisting in the layout, installation, and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems.

Entry-Level Salary

  • $20,000 – $30,000/yr.

Course of Study

Training, which includes hands-on, will cover topics of AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, digital electronics, programmable logic controllers, industrial motor controls, the National Electric Code, and other subjects as local needs require.

Recommended Courses and Skills

Beneficial high school courses or educational skills include basic math and English. Also, some vocational classes involving the use of hand tools for wood working or machinery.

Helpful Personal Attributes

Ability to focus on specific tasks involved in installing components for electrical systems. Also, the ability to learn from and work with others to complete complex electrical installations.
