Career Description

This certificate is designed to introduce students to the various GIS functions and software applications that will prepare students for entry-level positions in GIS/GPS environments.

Careers Available

Graduates should qualify for entry-level positions in transportation-related businesses, utility companies, and government organizations.

Entry-Level Salary

  • $20,000 - $25,000/yr.

Course of Study

Coursework includes introduction to GIS applications and related projects. Other related courses introduce transportation logistics and supply chain management.

Recommended Courses and Skills

Strong math background, high school algebra strongly recommended as well as strong reading comprehension skills and basic computer skills.

Helpful Personal Attributes

General awareness of the business environment, strong communication and interpersonal skills and good decision-making skills. Computer keyboarding and technology application abilities and adaptability to various work environments.
