This program provides students the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge needed to practice as a medical imaging technologist who utilizes injectable radioactive materials to perform diagnostic imaging procedures.
Career positions are available for Nuclear Medicine technologists in most hospitals, outpatient imaging centers and cardiology practices.

Course of Study
Course work includes clinical rotations to area health care facilities. Classroom instruction covers nuclear medicine procedures, general and nuclear physics, pathology, patient care and management, radiation protection, quality assurance, anatomy and physiology, radiobiology and instrumentation. Students must maintain a current CPR certification while enrolled in the clinical courses. Graduates of accredited programs are eligible to apply to take the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Boards’ national examination for certification and registration as nuclear medicine technologists.
Recommended Courses and Skills
Math, reading, high school human anatomy and physiology, health occupation classes and physics. High school biology, chemistry, and algebra (or equivalent college level courses) are required for
acceptance into this program.
