Media Opportunities

Forsyth Tech offers a variety of excellent programs taught by outstanding individuals. It is important to spotlight these programs, the students who excel in them and the instructors who often don't just teach the course, but have developed it themselves.

In an effort to project our excellence in a concise manner, faculty and staff should contact Shari Covitz , Vice President for Institutional Advancement either via e-mail or by calling at (336) 734-7520 to discuss such opportunities. Many times a well-timed press release will garner a story in the newspaper or even a story on the local news. However, beware of over-exposure and confusion. If a media outlet is contacted several times in a short amount of time, or if several people contact the same reporter, often the outcome is avoidance by the media.

To avoid this, Forsyth Tech has designated spokespersons to dispense information to the media. The president of Forsyth Tech, the vice president for Institutional Advancement or Martha Murphy of The Bloom Agency (College’s agency of record) should be the only people to contact the media or answer media inquiries (see Authorized Spokesperson section). This is also the case during any type of crisis on campus affecting our students or the surrounding community.
