Forsyth Tech Employees Selected for Statewide Leadership Program

– Bonnie Gabard Pope, Director of Nursing and William J. Schneider, Director, Institutional Effectiveness at Forsyth Technical Community College, have been selected to participate in the North Carolina Community College Leadership Program, class of 2008-2009. The program was developed 19 years ago to provide leadership training to faculty and staff from the 58 institutions comprising the North Carolina Community College System, as well as from the central office.

Dr. Pope has been involved in nursing education for 20 years and has experience in nursing education administration and leadership at all levels of nursing education.

Mr. Schneider has served in higher education for over a decade and has focused his efforts on promoting continuous improvement through effective planning, research, and assessment.

Participants for the 2008-2009 program were selected through a competitive application process. They will attend workshops and seminars for the next six months covering topics such as diversity, conflict resolution, and leading through change. Dr. Pope and Mr. Schneider join thirty-seven other participants, representing 31 North Carolina community colleges.

The leadership program trains and develops future community college leaders and believes that excellence can best be fostered through broad-based professional development opportunities offered to a diverse group.
