Student Success Center

The Student Success Center is located in Suite 2414 of the Oak Grove Building. The center coordinates new student orientations, academic advising, personal and career counseling and disability services.

Advising and Registration

We encourage all current students to take advantage of Advising Month in March 2015!
This is a time for you to meet with your advisor about your summer 2015 and fall 2015 academic plans. Current students will be able to register for Summer 2015 and Fall 2015 courses beginning March 30! Registration times/dates are sent to your Techlink email account from the records office. All current students are expected to register online through Techlink.

We invite all current students who need to refresh their registration skills to attend our Registration Frustration Workshops:

Online Advising

The Student Success Center offers online advising for current Forsyth Tech students Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm. Advisor Chat is an online advising system designed to assist students who have quick questions. Academic Advisors are available for you to chat with about educational goals, program selection, program requirements and college transfer requirements. Advisor Chat sessions are limited to 10 minutes. If you need assistance past 10 minutes, you will be able to set up an in-person meeting with the advisor, continue communicating through email, or by phone.

A chat transcript and student satisfaction survey will be emailed to the student immediately following the end of each chat session.

Advisor Chat cannot be used for the following:

  • Program Change Request
  • Registration/Course Overrides
  • Institution Withdrawal
  • Financial Aid inquiries

Current students are able to access Advisor Chat:

  • Mondays: 9am-2pm
  • Tuesdays: 9am-2pm
  • Wednesdays: 9am-2pm
  • Thursdays: 9am-2pm

Chat with an Online Advisor

Online Advising will be disabled on the following dates:

  • January 19, 2015:  Holiday
  • April 8- April 14, 2015:  New Student Orientation and Summer Registration
  • May 7, 2015:  Forsyth Technical Community College Commencement

Online Advising is not available during the summer.

Personal Counselors

Personal counselors are here to help you deal with life issues that affect your progress at Forsyth Tech. The center also offers information and referrals for more intensive, specialized assistance, if needed. The counseling staff adheres to the ethical standards of the National Board for Certified Counselors.

While we can be contacted by phone or e-mail regarding personal concerns, it is recommended that Forsyth Tech students visit the Student Success Center in person, or visit a helping professional in their local area.  If you have an emergency, please call 911, or in Forsyth County call 336.725.7777.

Career Counselors

Career Counselors offer advice on finding the right career, getting a better job, preparing for interviews and other career-related areas. We provide career testing, counseling and information to prospective and currently enrolled students.
