Financial aid at Forsyth Tech is available in the form of grants, scholarships, and work study that will help you and your family with educational expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and supplies. The college will make every effort within available financial aid resources to assure that you will not be denied the opportunity to attend college because of a lack of funds to help meet educational expenses. Step One – Apply For Admission To Forsyth Tech

You may apply online. This is a separate process from applying for financial aid; however, financial aid cannot be awarded until you are approved for admission to an eligible program of study. Please note a classification of Special Credit is not eligible for financial aid, but most Associate Degrees are, as well as many diplomas and several certificates.

Step Two – Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)


You should apply for financial aid annually by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available after October 1 of each year for the following academic year.lowing academic year.

  • Online – You may apply online at fafsa.ed.gov. Forsyth Tech’s School Code is 005317 and must be listed on the FAFSA.
  • With A Paper Application – If you would prefer to print out and mail in your application, a PDF FAFSA is available at fafsa.ed.gov. It must be mailed to the address printed on the FAFSA application. If you do not have internet access, you may obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1.800.4.FED-AID.

You will need the following information when completing the FAFSA:

    • Your Social Security Number
    • Your parents’ Social Security Number if you are a dependent student
    • Your Federal Income Tax Return and W-2s
  • Your parents’ Federal Income Tax Return and W-2s if you are a dependent student
  • Untaxed income records such as social security benefits, child support, and welfare, for example

The FAFSA may be completed at any time during the year; however, priority processing dates for each semester are listed below.

2020-2021 Priority Processing Dates

Fall 2020

Financial Aid Priority Processing Date – Monday, July 13, 2020

All required documents must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services by
July 13, 2020.

Students should continue to complete FAFSA applications and turn documents into the financial aid office after this date; however, students must be prepared to pay for books and tuition for the Fall Semester.

Financial aid awards may be viewed through your Techlink account.

Spring 2021

Financial Aid Priority Processing Date – Monday, November 9, 2020

All required documents must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services by November 9, 2020.

Students should continue to complete FAFSA applications and turn documents into the financial aid office after this date; however, students must be prepared to pay for books and tuition for the Spring Semester.

Financial aid awards may be viewed through your Techlink account.

Summer 2021

Financial Aid Priority Processing Date – Monday, March 8, 2021.

All required documents must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services by
March 8, 2021.

Students should continue to complete FAFSA applications and turn documents into the financial aid office after this date; however, students must be prepared to pay for books and tuition for the Summer Term.

Financial aid awards may be viewed through your Techlink account.

2019-2020 Priority Processing Dates

If you are or were enrolled during the 2019-2020 academic year, we strongly encourage you to submit a 2019-2020 FAFSA if you have not already done so. FAFSA’s for the 2019-2020 academic year may be submitted until June 30, 2020.

Step Three – Promptly respond to all requests for information

Once the Office of Student Financial Services receives a copy of your FAFSA from the U.S. Department of Education, a checklist letter will be sent to the address on file with Forsyth Tech’s Records Office, requesting documents needed to complete your file. Once all documents are received, your financial aid file will be reviewed for a possible award.

  • If it is determined that you are eligible for aid, you will receive a financial aid award letter along with several other important documents. Carefully read all materials.
