Forsyth Technical Community College Students Garner National SkillsUSA Awards

Fourteen students from Forsyth Tech won awards, including one gold and three silver medals, during the SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, Ky., June 24-28, 2019. This was the 55th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. Since the SkillsUSA state competition in Greensboro in April, students have prepared diligently for the national competition and their efforts paid off.

Meet the Awake58 Fellows

EdNC recently launched a community college student fellowship to engage community college students with our work and help guide EdNC in our coverage of community colleges. The Awake58 Fellows are made up of 10 students at six community colleges — Alamance, Catawba Valley, Forsyth Tech, Gaston, Rowan-Cabarrus, and Wilkes. The students were nominated by their respective institutions.

Pulitzer Center Announces 2019 Student Reporting Fellowships

The Pulitzer Center is proud to announce the 2019 cohort of 43 student reporting fellows. They will travel to 29 countries across the globe to shed light on some of the most critical challenges of our time. They will investigate underreported stories related to the environment, global health, culture and identity, immigration and forced displacement, systems of economic and political power, and religion.
