Program of Study
This program prepares its graduates for employment in the field of magnetic resonance imaging by providing learning experiences (classroom, lab, and clinical) that parallel the skills and level of competency necessary to function as entry-level MRI technologists. Graduates demonstrate the ability to critically think and effectively communicate with patients as well as other medical professionals. MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, monitor patient safety and comfort, explain the MRI procedures, conduct quality control, and maintain patient records. Graduates that satisfy requirements are eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists’ (ARRT) national examination for certification and registration as Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (RT, MR-ARRT). Options are available for students with no prior imaging experience (AAS Degree) and those with specific primary imaging registration and certification (Diploma).
