Hello Forsyth Tech students!
Happy Memorial Day! In speaking of America’s democracy, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said, “Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them.” Today is a day we have set aside to remember, and to honor the military men and women who bravely served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, while in service.
At this time in our history, we are also especially grateful for the other American heroes serving on the front lines of this pandemic — our healthcare professionals, first responders and the many other essential workers who have worked hard during the COVID-19 crisis.
As we launch summer term on Wednesday, May 27, faculty and staff are working with students to make sure you know how your classes will be offered remotely. Classes will not be offered on campus until we are able to meet face-to-face safely. We are all looking forward to that day!
If you need more information about any of our updates related to how we are handling the COVID-19 situation, please check out the Health Alert page on our website. Further updates are below.
Important Dates for This Week
Welcome to summer session! Here is the schedule for this week as we begin summer classes. The plan is for classes to eventually move back to campus, but until then, we will continue to offer remote access to courses and services for students. We will keep you informed about when we will be able to bring classes back to campus.
Here are some key dates:
- May 27 – First day of summer classes.
- May 27 & 28 – Virtual Drop/Add Registration for Summer 2020 – 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Students may call in that day to be registered remotely using 336-734-7195. Watch Techlink for more information next week.
Next Facebook Live –June 4, 2020
I have been enjoying talking with you in the Facebook Live sessions. This week, we will not have a Facebook Live. Instead I’ll be releasing a welcome back video for you and our summer students that will be posted later today or tomorrow. We will resume our Facebook Live sessions on Thursday, June 4 at 2:00 PM. Please join me if you can – I look forward to talking with you and answering your questions!
Thanks to our heroes
I wanted to leave you one last thought for the week:
“A hero is someone who has given his life to something bigger than oneself.” — Joseph Campbell
Thank you for being our heroes this semester and for remaining Forsyth Tech Strong!
Stay safe and well, and enjoy your Memorial Day.
