Through firsthand testimony\, he will reflect on his life under Nazi occupation\, his family’s extraordinary escape from persecution during World War II\, and the refugee experiences that ultimately led him to the United States and North Carolina. He is also the author of Our Great Escape: The Story of a Dutch Family’s Flight from Persecution (1942–1943).
