DESCRIPTION:Join us for a profoundly moving and educational experience as Holocaust survivor Dr. Alexander “Lex” Silbiger shares his personal story of resilience\, survival\, and hope. Through firsthand testimony\, he will reflect on his life under Nazi occupation\, his family’s extraordinary escape from persecution during World War II\, and the refugee experiences that ultimately led him to the United States and North Carolina. He is also the author of Our Great Escape: The Story of a Dutch Family’s Flight from Persecution (1942–1943). Pre-order Our Great Escape and bring it to the event to meet Dr. Silbiger and have your copy personally signed. \n\n\n\nThis event offers a rare opportunity to hear history directly from someone who lived it\, encouraging reflection\, empathy\, and a deeper understanding of the lasting impact of the Holocaust and forced displacement. \n\n\n\nAttendees are invited to view a 42-panel Holocaust exhibit from the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust\, available for self-guided exploration before and after the presentation. Refreshments will be served. \n\n\n\nForsyth Tech will also host an Our Great Escape Classroom Book Set Giveaway\, awarding two sets of 30 books to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools teachers through a drawing held during the March 24 commemoration.
