Forsyth Tech And Mercurygate International Host College’S First-Ever Logistics Roundtable For Students

Forum Highlights Value of technology In Logistics/Supply Chain Space

Forsyth Tech and MercuryGate International, Inc., a global provider of cloud-based transportation management solutions headquartered in Cary, NC, are presenting the college’s first-ever Logistics Roundtable. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 20 9:00 am – noon in the Oak Grove Center Auditorium on the college’s Main Campus, 2100 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.

The forum is designed to engage industry professionals and students pursuing a degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in discussions about the importance of technology in this industry. Topics include freight’s impact on the economy, using technology to gain competitive advantage, managing the lifecycle of load and capacity and platform integration to ensure a seamless supply chain.

Industry panelists include representatives from Belk, Source Transport (Logisource), Domtar, UCW Logistics, and Hanes Brands.

“This roundtable gives our students the opportunity to understand the importance of technology in the execution of supply chain and logistics events,” says Demetria Ledbetter, program coordinator, Global Logistics, Business Administration – Logistics Management, Import/Export Compliance. “We want our students to be prepared to enter the workforce job-ready, armed with new insights and equipped with the tools needed to become leaders in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the globalized world.”

Activities during the event will address various modes of transportation used in everyday operations and will draw on strategic approaches aimed at enhancing services and ensuring profitability while gaging the ever-changing business environment.
