SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization for high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. The goal of SkillsUSA is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.
Each year the organization holds the SkillsUSA Conference, attended by more than 15,000 students, teachers and business partners. At the Conference, more than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students – all state contest winners – compete in the SkillsUSA Championships, working against the clock and each other to show their expertise in 99 different trade, technical and leadership fields. This year, the SkillsUSA Championships were held June 25-26 in Kansas City and five Forsyth Tech students came home from the competition with medals.
