Career Description

Computer programming involves the planning, writing, testing, and maintenance of instructions that cause a computer to perform tasks. Computers have become such an integral part of our society that most jobs necessitate some interaction with a computer through the use of applications which computer programmers code with a programming language.

Computer programmer, computer developer, programmer/analyst, programmer/engineer, systems analyst.

Entry-Level Salary

$35,000 – $55,000/yr. Depends on skills, education, experience, and geographic location.

Course of Study

Course work includes logic, networking, database, operating systems, security, business principles, as well as systems analysis and design. Students are required to take two semesters of two different programming languages and complete a programming project.
