Help Desk Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

  • What the “prerequisites not started” error means
    • The course you are trying to register for has multiple prerequisites and you have satisfied only *part* of them, not *all* of them.
      • Example: Both MAT-060 and MAT-070 are prerequisites for MAT-080; if a student tries to register for MAT-080 and has placed out of or completed only *one* of the other two math prerequisite courses, the system will generate this warning message.
    • This message does NOT mean that the student is currently enrolled in the prerequisite(s)—“in progress” means only part of the prerequisites are done, so the student is still “in progress” towards meeting the full set of prerequisites.
      • If the student actually has completed one prerequisite and actually is currently enrolled in the other one, the system will let the student pre-register for the next course out for the next term without generating a warning.
    • Student cannot register before 5 a.m. on {date}.
      • You have been assigned a priority registration time as listed—this is before that time, you will have to wait until your priority registration time to register.
  • {Class section} is closed.
    • The section you selected is full. Review the schedule of courses and select another section with a status of OPEN.
  • {Class section} requires registration in {class section}.
    • There is a required matching class section for this class. WebAdvisor will register you for it automatically.
  • Student may not register for {class section} at this time.
    • The add period for this particular class is over. You may not register without a Registration Override Request signed by the dean of the appropriate division.
  • {Class section} is restricted to {certain majors}
    • This course is restricted based on the student’s current major. Click on the blue course number for the exact major(s). You cannot register for this section if this is not your current major.
  • There is a message “Class A conflicts with Class B” but there is no apparent conflict
    • There is a conflict in the meeting times of the classes, it could be from a lab time, please check the “more” listing in the course detail pane.
  • MESSAGE: “Cannot complete registration. See Business Office”
    • There is a block on the students account by the business office, please call the Cashier at 7210 or go by the office on the 2nd floor of the Allman Building.
  • Student has no approved Curriculum level/program.
    • See an Admissions Counselor. You do not have a current major on your record. Admissions is located on the first floor of the Allman Center on Main Campus.
      • Student needs to go through Admissions to be admitted or readmitted before registering.
  • {Course} has an optional co-requisite.
    • Disregard. The co-requisite is optional.
  • Student does not have a registration priority. {Term} requires one.
    • You have not been assigned a registration priority date. Contact the Records office at 734.7253
