Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider CPR- Initial
Are you a healthcare provider who needs Basic Life Support CPR certification and have never taken a class before? Receive your certification in one day at Forsyth Tech! The BLS HCP CPR course teaches you to recognize the signs and symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest and strokes and how to perform CPR for adults, infants and children and use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. The BLS Healthcare Provider course is designed to provide you, as a healthcare professional, with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals or medical students. Upon completion you will receive an American Heart Association Certification eCard good for two years.

AHA CPR BLS Renewal
AHA CPR BLS Renewal course is for experienced healthcare providers who have previously taken an AHA BLS renewal certification class. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in treatment of cardiac arrest patients.
Upon completion of the course you will receive an American Heart Association Certification eCard which is valid for two years.
Required prerequisite – AHA BLS certification that has not expired for more than 60 days.

Heartsaver CPR and First Aid
This American Heart Association credentialed course covers first aid basics; medical, injury, and environmental emergencies; CPR AED; and choking relief for adults, children and infants. You will learn the basic steps of CPR, use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. You will receive instruction to recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory and cardiac arrest in adults, children and infant victims. Instruction will be provided to manage life-threatening environmental emergencies, injuries and medical emergencies such as; seizures, allergies, diabetes, heat stroke and snake bites. On the day of the course, upon successful completion, you will receive your AHA Heartsaver CPR/First Aid card which is valid for two years. ACLS Initial and BLS Renewal
Are you an advanced medical professional looking for AHA ACLS training? Come to Forsyth Tech and receive the AHA ACLS and BLS certification all in one class. This advanced, instructor-led classroom course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Instruction is provided for airway management and related pharmacology. You will be able to recognize the patient’s condition and start the appropriate early course of treatment. You will have the knowledge to managed cardiac conditions is a professional manner and assume a leadership role. Upon successful completion, you will receive the AHA ACLS and BLS certification eCards which are valid for two years.

ACLS Update and BLS Renewal
This ACLS Update course delivers ACLS providers updated information and current AHA standards of performance. The provider completing this course will be issued an AHA ACLS and BLS certification eCard that is good for two years. The ACLS Update course is for those that have taken an AHA ACLS Initial class in the past 5 years and can provide, in class, the past AHA ACLS and BLS certification card.
Prerequisites: Must have a past AHA ACLS and BLS Provider card.

PALS Initial – Pediatric
Are you a healthcare provider interested in preparing to respond to emergencies for infants and children? The American Heart Association PALS certification is desired in most medical settings and surgical units for infants and children. Come to Forsyth Tech and receive the AHA PALS and BLS certification all in one class. The American Heart Association PALS course is an instructor-led course using a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. At the end of the course, upon successful completion, you will receive the AHA PALS certification eCards which are valid for two years.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of CPR certification do I need? If you work in the medical field or you are a medical student, most likely you need one of the BLS Provider certification. If you are not sure and your place of employment or school is requiring this certification they would be most suited to advise the type of certification required.
Do all AHA certification classes require an AHA student manual? Yes
Do Renewal/Update courses require a current AHA certification card in that discipline? Those attending AHA BLS and Heartsaver CPR Renewal/Update courses must present, in class, an AHA certification card in the discipline of the class that has not expired for more the 60 days. Those attending AHA ACLS and AHA PALS Update courses must have an AHA certification card in the discipline of the class that has not expired for more than 3 years.
Who would take a Heartsaver CPR class? The average citizen, baby sitters, life guards and those with no medical experience are just a few examples.
Are all AHA certification cards ecards? Yes, effective 2018 AHA implemented ecards for all disciplines. AHA Training Centers can deplete existing card stock before implementing ecards.
Students should be able to claim their ecard within 3 business days of the certification class.
