This includes developing nanocarriers for targeted drug therapy, creating lab-on-a-chip devices for next-generation medical testing, fabricating nanoparticles for use in clothing, computers, cars, and aircraft, and refining established cures for cancer using nontoxic nanoscopic particles.
Careers Available
Students will be prepared for entry-level positions in engineering, manufacturing and/or medical research development, biomedical engineering, nanomaterials design, nanomedicine protocols, nanotech lab management, clean room operations, and multidisciplinary work environments.
Entry-Level Salary
- $24,000 - $28,000/yr.
- $32,000 - $42,000/yr. with 5+yrs of related technical experience
Course of Study
Course work includes biology, chemistry, physics, math (up to trigonometry), and electives in biotechnology, nanomaterials, and nanomedicine.
Recommended Courses and Skills
High school algebra II, biology, and chemistry
Helpful Personal Attributes
