Scholarship Information

Listed below are Scholarships available each year for Forsyth Tech students. The Office of Student Financial Services accepts institutional scholarships each year from March 1st through April 15th. The availability of each scholarship is subject to change from year to year based on available funds.

Applicants must complete one application to be considered for all of the Forsyth Tech scholarships. If a non-Forsyth Tech application is required, the scholarship information lists the appropriate web site to download the application.

Available Scholarships

Some scholarships require an essay in addition to the application. To be considered for every scholarship for which you may qualify, carefully review the essay requirements. If appropriate, attach your essay to the back of your application.

Don Angell Nursing Scholarship	Nursing	Restricted to nursing students with preference given to employees (or family members) of Angell facilities
Apple Foundation Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a Stokes County resident Must be a 2013 graduate of North or South Stokes high schools See North or South Stokes guidance staff or the Forsyth Tech Stokes County Center for details and application
John P. Arrowood Sr. Scholarship	Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Plumbing, Welding Technology, Architectural, Electrical/Electronics	Must be a high school or GED graduate
Branner Dixon Baldwin Scholarship	Practical Nursing	Must be enrolled in Practical Nursing Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 Must be of a caring and compassionate nature Priority to those interested in oncology nursing Requires a 250-500 word essay “Why I want to be a nurse and any nursing field of particular interest.” Will be selected at the end of Fall 2013
Daniel Bradley Barrow Scholarship	Engineering Technologies (with a strong emphasis in Carpentry, Plumbing and other construction trades)	Must be a native of one of the following counties: Ashe, Watauga, Alleghany, Wilkes, Surry, Yadkin, Stokes, Forsyth, David, Davidson, Guildford or Rockingham. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or C average in enrolled courses
Marshall B. Bass Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a second year student Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must be U.S. Citizen and resident of Forsyth County Preference given to minorities
Karen Bowen Scholarship	Business Technologies	Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 By the end of Spring 2013, must have earned at least 50% of the credit hours needed for graduation Must be a positive representative of the Business Technologies program in the college and community Must display the potential for a successful career in the student's chosen field
R.D. Boyer Scholarship	Plumbing, Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration, Welding, Carpentry, Electrical/Electronics	Must apply for Federal Aid Must have financial need
Mike and Wendy Brenner CNA Endowment	Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma Program	Must be a resident of North Carolina Must have financial need
Mike and Wendy Brenner Early Childhood Endowment	Early Childhood Diploma Program	Must be a resident of North Carolina Must have financial need
Mike and Wendy Brenner Scholarship	Engineering Technologies	Must be enrolled in Welding, Machining or Carpentry Must be a resident of North Carolina Must have financial need
Leslie Blair Scholarship in Radiography	Nursing	Must be enrolled in the radiography program Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA May be a resident of any country in the state of North Carolina Must provide evidence of financial need in the application Must complete a handwritten essay

Clemmons Rotary Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a full time resident of Forsyth County Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must have financial need Priority West Forsyth High School Graduate Can not be spouse, child, or grandchild of a Rotarian
Fred and Marjorie Crouch Memorial Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 Must have financial need
Forsyth Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship	All Health Programs	Must be a rising second year student Must be planning to graduate May 2013 Must be enrolled full-time Must have financial need and merit Must be highly motivated Requires a 250 – 500 word essay “Why this career?”
Forsyth County Dental Society	Dental Assisting	Must be enrolled (incoming or current) in the Dental Assisting Program
Forsyth County Dental Society	Dental Hygiene	Must be enrolled (incoming or current) in the Dental Hygiene Program
D.S. Duggins Scholarship	Welding	Selected by the Forsyth Tech Welding Department based upon the recommendations of high school welder teachers
John T. Eagan, Jr. Memorial Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must have financial need
Garden Club Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Scholarship	Horticulture Technology and Landscape Architecture	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must be a rising second year student currently enrolled Must be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of Forsyth County Preference given to minorities Apply through the Winston-Salem Foundation (www.wsfoundation.org)
Dr. Frederick W. and Joyce E. Glass Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship	Associate Degree Nursing	Requires applicant’s admission scores Must have prior work in a hospital setting Must have financial need Preference in Emergency Medicine, but not required
GMAC \ Integon Scholarship	Office Systems Technology	Must be enrolled full-time Must be a rising second year student Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
The Clara Muehlbaecher Heise Scholarship in Allied Health	Allied Health	Must have financial need
Marshall P. Johnston Scholarship	Automotive Systems	Must have financial need Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Charlie King, Student Development Memorial Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA 2.0 Requires a 250 – 500 word essay “Reason(s) for applying for this scholarship”
Ivy Lamb Scholarship	Business Administration /International Business	Must be enrolled in at least nine credit hours per term Must have earned at least 3 hours in INT Studies in the last term of enrollment and be enrolled in 3 hours of INT Studies in the term the scholarship is awarded Must write 500 word essay on “Business/International Business”
David W. Lewis Scholarship	Accounting	Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA Must have financial need Must be resident of Forsyth, Stokes, Davie , or Davidson Counties Must be a single parent living on his/her own
Lucent Technologies Pioneers Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be Full-Time Resident of N.C. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Priority given to single parents and those who were employees of AT&T Technologies, Lucent Technologies or Western Electric. Priority merit and need considerations
Catherine-Kiser Marshall Scholarship	Associate Degree Nursing	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 Must have need Must be 24-years or older Requires a 250 – 500 word essay “Why this career?”
McPhail (Pilot Club) Scholarship	Practical Nursing	Must have financial need Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Requires a 250 – 500 word essay “Why this career?” Will be selected at the end of Fall, 2011

Glenn and Wilma Pettyjohn Scholarship	Electrical, Plumbing, Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration, Paralegal and Associate Degree Nursing.	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 Must not be receiving other financial assistance Must have a good work ethic Must attend an interview with the scholarship committee
Pfafftown Jaycees / Lynn Canada Memorial Scholarship	Associate Degree Nursing	Must be Forsyth County resident Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Apply through the Winston-Salem Foundation (www.wsfoundation.org)
L. Gordon Jr. and June D. Pfefferkorn Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a 2013 Graduate of a Forsyth County High School Must have a minimum 2.5 high school cumulative GPA
Dack Reeves Memorial Scholarship	Welding	Must have recommendation from department
State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be enrolled full-time and have financial need Must be a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must have demonstrated leadership, excellent character, integrity, and community involvement Preference will be given to those with family members who are public sector employees in North Carolina
SGA / Mayerchak Scholarship	All technical and transfer programs	Must be a rising second year student Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Must be full-time student
Shelton Foundation Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a 2011 graduate of a Stokes County high school Must use the Shelton Foundation Application See Stokes County guidance staff for details and application
Thomas E. Shown Scholarship in Practical Nursing	Practical Nursing	Must be 22 years old or older Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must work at least 20 hours per month while attending school Must be a U.S. Citizen Recipient must write the donor semi-annually Requires an interview
Thurmond E. Siceloff Scholarship	Mechanical Engineering	Must be male Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 Must be a native born US Citizen Must be a resident of Forsyth County Must have financial need Must be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Associate degree program
Siecor Scholarship	Information Systems or Manufacturing Engineering	Must be full-time resident of N.C. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Must have financial need Preference given to relatives of those who are or were employees of Siecor and single parents
Society for Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship	Mechanical Engineering Technology / Drafting and Design	Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Requires a 250 – 500 word essay “Reason(s) for applying for this scholarship?”
Tom Staley Memorial Scholarship	Business Administration	Must be planning to graduate in May, 2012 Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Must have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of Spring 2012
Tree Bright Scholarship of Excellence	Therapeutic Massage	Must have a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA Must be at least a second Semester student Must demonstrate need

Wachovia General Scholarship	Business or Information Systems	Must be a rising second year student Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better Priority to full-time students

Art and Dannie Weber Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must demonstrate character and purpose as evidenced in school, community, church, and work activities Must demonstrate financial need Must demonstrate academic success by achieving minimum unweighted high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) between 2.5 - 3.5 Must be a graduating high school senior
Louise G. Wilson Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA Must be poverty level and Pell eligible Must be a Resident of Forsyth County
Winston-Salem/Twin Cities Kiwanis Clubs Scholarship	All Programs (General)	Must be a 2013 graduating senior from a Forsyth County high school planning to enroll at Forsyth Tech in the fall term of 2013 A separate application is required, available in the high school guidance offices and Office of Student Financial Services Requires an interview
The Woman’s Club of Winston-Salem	All Programs (General)	Must be female Must have a combination of financial need and merit
The Olin Cranfill Memorial Scholarship	Associate Degree Nursing or Practical Nursing	Must be a Stokes County resident Must have financial need
