What You’ll Learn
Receive instruction in the principles of residential and light commercial construction from the planning and beginning stages all the way to a completed structure. Learn about NC Building Codes, OSHA Construction Safety, blue print reading, along with safety guidelines regarding construction tools and equipment.
Outcomes
Get hands-on training in:
- Electrical and plumbing rough-ins
- house framing
- exterior siding
- drywall installation
- interior trim
- many other aspects of building construction.
After completion of this course, you will be prepared for entry-level employment with local general contractors.
Requirements
- There are no prerequisites, but a strong mechanical ability is very important
- Should have the ability to work in a team environment, be organized, detail-oriented, and strong in problem-solving.
- Students are required to bring their own safety glasses and work gloves.

This course is introductory course in the construction industry. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment with local general contractors.
