What you’ll learn
The Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) is offered 100% online using the Blackboard learning management system. This course prepares students to manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) in various healthcare settings. Students will learn how to navigate EHR systems, ensure accurate documentation, support patient data management, and comply with healthcare regulations. This course aligns with industry standards and prepares students for the National Health career Association (NHA) CEHRS certification exam.

The only required resource for this course is: Cengage Unlimited 1-Term electronic access. This can be purchased from the bookstore.
If you plan to take the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS) certification exam at the end of your course, there is a $125 exam fee, which must be paid directly to the National Health career Association (NHA) when scheduling your exam. The exam consists of 110 multiple-choice questions and will be scheduled at the conclusion of the course. It must be taken on campus, and you will have 1 hour and 50 minutes to complete it.

High school diploma or GED, Basic Computer Skills.
Required placement test:
Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is required (scores valid for one year).

Additional Information
- This course is offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters of each year.
- This is not a self-paced course. Each week has timed material that will be available and due on a specific due date each week.
- Students will not have access to prior week’s assignments after due dates have passed so students must manage their time accordingly. It is expected that each student will complete all work assigned and be proactive in the learning process. This means you must be able/willing to spend 6-8 hours perweek studying and completing assignments.
