Medical Sonography
Associate in Applied Science
What You’ll Learn
Are you interested in working with patients in a healthcare setting as a skilled technician in North Carolina? Consider Forsyth Tech’s two-year accredited Medical Sonography Associate in Applied Sciences program. As a graduate of this program, you will work in diagnostic medical sonography, using high-frequency sound waves to create images of the body’s internal structures in order to diagnose illness or monitor a baby’s progress. As a medical sonographer you will be qualified to work under the supervision of a physician in diagnostic imaging departments within hospitals, specialty clinics, physician’s offices and outpatient imaging centers.
In this ultrasound program you will study anatomy, physiology and ultrasound physics. Forsyth Tech’s program prepares students to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification exam before graduation. This will qualify you to work in medical sonography in the State of North Carolina.
To apply, the application will open on January 12, 2026, and the application deadline will be March 13, 2026. If you have questions about the program and any changes, please contact your advisor.
