What You’ll Learn
Gain basic skills to look after and maintain a broad range of facilities. Course topics include electrical system
maintenance, heating/air conditioning system troubleshooting, plumbing, appliance repair, and basic carpentry.
This course is 256 hours and is completed in a single semester.
Outcomes
Students will learn the basic skills in construction, electrical troubleshooting, hands on training in HVAC service, and plumbing.
This class includes an examination to obtain a CFC card. There is also an optional examination for Licensed Aquatic Facility Technician certification available.
Requirments
Students should have a strong mechanical aptitude. You must have an acceptable TABE score in math and reading, or an equivalent qualification. Interested students should call and schedule an interview with the Program Director to determine if a TABE score is needed.
Students should have the ability to work in a team environment, be organized, detail-oriented and a problem solver. This is a hands on course so proper attire and safety equipment is required.

Facility maintenance technicians have the skills to do maintenance and make repairs that are routinely needed in commercial facilities and residential structures. They will be able to use blueprints and specialized tools and equipment necessary to make these repairs. They will have the certifications necessary to allow them to perform these duties.
Careers are available in housing complexes, apartment complexes, office buildings, industrial settings, and medical centers. These can include specialty jobs or multi-skill jobs.
