Bishop Sir Walter Lee Mack, Jr. delivered thoughtful and inspiring remarks during Forsyth Tech’s annual celebration on January 14, 2026,  honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., encouraging attendees to consider how Dr. King’s message might sound if he were speaking to the world today.

Bishop Mack framed his remarks around a modern idea: if Dr. King were alive today, he would likely have a podcast.

Through that lens, Bishop Mack invited the audience to think about how Dr. King consistently used every available platform to reach people where they were. In today’s digital world, that platform might be a podcast—one with listeners across the globe tuning in to hear messages rooted in justice, compassion, and courage.

Bishop Mack noted that the topics Dr. King addressed decades ago would still be front and center. On that podcast, Dr. King would continue speaking out against racism, poverty, and war, challenging listeners to reflect, act, and hold themselves accountable.

The message resonated with those in attendance, connecting Dr. King’s legacy to the realities of today while underscoring the importance of using one’s voice to push for progress. Bishop Mack’s remarks served as a reminder that while the tools for communication may change, the responsibility to speak up and stand firm does not.

Forsyth Tech’s celebration of Dr. King brought together students, faculty, staff, and community members to reflect on his enduring impact and the ways his work continues to shape conversations and actions today.
