Automotive Service Excellence
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is a way for technicians to show mastery of a variety of automotive components. Certification serves to demonstrate expertise to customers, shop owners, and fellow techs.
To become ASE certified, a technician must have two years of on-the-job training or one year of OJT and a two-year degree in automotive repair to qualify for certification. When this has been met, technicians can sit for a system-specific examination. To remain ASE certified, technicians must retest every five years.
Forsyth Tech offers classes to help technicians prepare for these ASE examinations. The classes offered include brake systems, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and HVAC systems. Each class is 24 contact hours and meets for 3 hours twice a week. All classes are held at our Transportation Center.
Students must have the appropriate MotorAge test prep guide before class begins.
