Course Description
Forsyth Tech’s Magnetic Resonance Imaging Assistant program prepares students for careers in diagnostic imaging. The curriculum covers MR safety, patient screening, positioning, and emergency response protocols. Students develop practical skills through integrated didactic and clinical education, including patient interviewing, room and equipment preparation, and safety management in the high-field magnetic environment. Clinical rotations reinforce classroom learning with hands-on experience in patient positioning, RF coil placement, and IV injection techniques. Graduates are eligible for dual certifications: MR Imaging Assistant through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and MR Safety Technologist through the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS).
Through a concurrent curriculum of 60 didactic hours and 90 clinical hours, students gain the essential knowledge and practical skills to assist MR technologists in a clinical setting. Prerequisites include a high school diploma or GED and basic computer literacy.
