Veterinary Assistant
ConEd
What you’ll learn
Combination of classroom and hands-on training. Our Veterinary Assistant program does not include formal clinical placements, but it is far from a fully online or theory‑only experience. While there are no required clinical hours, this program still offers more practical, hands‑on experience than many fully online veterinary assistant courses. In this program, students can expect:
- Exposure to common veterinary procedures and processes
- Hands‑on practice using real veterinary instruments and tools
- Use of props and models to practice animal restraint and handling techniques
- Live animals (dogs and cats) are incorporated into class activities when appropriate, under the guidance of an instructor.
- Field trips to veterinary‑related facilities to connect classroom learning to real‑world environments
Internships are not currently part of VET-3110VA. Class trips can vary, such as animal shelters and vet clinics. Students are encouraged to job shadow to learn even more, as well as to network in the field to find work after graduation.
Outcome
Academic / Career Path
