Why choose a technical and trade course/program?
Our Technical and Trades Workforce Development courses are designed to prepare you for employment in as little as 4 weeks. Students will gain hands on experience in each course that will give them skills to obtain an entry level job or students can use these courses can serve as a pathway to one of our Associate and Certificate programs.
You do not have to apply to Forsyth Tech to take these continuing education courses, just register online or through Customer Service. Please note, some courses have prerequisites that are on each of the course pages, you must satisfy the prerequisites to take the course.

Basic Construction

Receive instruction in the principles of residential and light commercial construction from the planning and beginning stages all the way to a completed structure.
CDL Training

4 Weeks

Class runs multiple times a year
In just four weeks, learn everything you need to hit the road. This program includes classroom instruction and hands on training with automatic transmission trucks.
Electrical Installation & Troubleshooting

One Semester

This is an introductory course into the electrical trade. Students will gain theoretical and practical experience in electrical installations and repairs.
Automotive Refresher Course

Automotive Refresher Courses are geared toward professionals working in the Automotive Industry that would like to deepen their expertise in engine performance.
Auto Safety and OBD II Certifications
Time to Complete:
8 Hours

Course for Automotive Technicians who need certification or recertification to perform Auto Safety and Emissions testing in North Carolina.
HVAC Service Technician

This is an introductory course, designed to prepare the student for an occupation in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade.
Rivian Technical Trades Program

Level 1: 12 weeks and Level 2: 18 weeks

The Rivian Technical Trades Program is an exciting opportunity to start your career in electric vehicle (EV) technology, combining classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job training. This program is a paid internship starting, with a minimum of 40 hours/week.
