Studying therapeutic massage involves learning the art and science of manipulating soft tissues to enhance health and well-being. Students acquire knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various massage techniques. They develop practical skills in assessing clients’ needs, applying therapeutic touch, and promoting relaxation and stress relief. Studying therapeutic massage prepares individuals for a fulfilling career where they can help clients alleviate pain, improve circulation, and achieve overall balance and wellness.
Therapeutic Massage is an active, hands-on educational program. Students participate in classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning and should expect to both give and receive massage/bodywork as part of their education and skills development.
The Therapeutic Massage program consists of 700 hours of education and training completed through two courses:
- Massage Therapy I — 350 Hours
- Massage Therapy II — 350 Hours
Students must successfully complete Massage Therapy I before progressing to Massage Therapy II. Successful completion of both courses is required to complete the 700-hour Therapeutic Massage program and move forward with the licensing examination and application for North Carolina licensure.
