Forsyth Tech partnered with Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. (GWSI) today to support the Senior Academy, welcoming 82 high school seniors from six Forsyth County high schools for a day of career exploration and college connection.

Held at Hanes Mall, the Senior Academy provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at local businesses while helping them build skills for the next step after high school. As part of the experience, students also learned they have been accepted to Forsyth Tech.

The day began at Truliant Federal Credit Union, where students heard from community and industry leaders about career pathways, workplace expectations, and professional skills. Sessions included a welcome and program overview from GWSI, Truliant Federal Credit Union, and JCPenney leadership, followed by discussions on topics such as personal branding, interview preparation, and career opportunities across industries. Students also participated in a financial literacy session focused on banking basics, including accounts, direct deposit, and career pathways in the financial sector.

“The partnership between Greater Winston-Salem Inc. and Forsyth Tech empowers students to design their futures, and today’s Senior Academy Behind the Scenes event is a perfect example of this in action,” said Terri Cummings, Vice President of Talent & Workforce at Greater Winston-Salem, Inc.

During lunch, students heard from Forsyth Tech faculty and staff about summer programs, certificates, and short-term training options that can help them quickly enter the workforce or continue their education. All students were also notified that they have received direct admission to Forsyth Tech for fall 2026.

The afternoon concluded a guided tour of JCPenney, where students gained insight into retail operations and careers within the organization.

Forsyth Tech’s participation in the Senior Academy reflects its strong partnership with Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. and local employers to support students as they transition from high school to college and careers. By connecting students with real-world experiences and clear next steps, the program helps them see what is possible right here in Forsyth County.
